Fishing package on the Swedish west coast

Tofta Herrgård is located on the Swedish west coast in Bohuslän, between Marstrand and Kungälv - just minutes from excellent fishing throughout the season. Here you’ll find sea trout from early spring all the way into the magical nights of summer.

Sea trout fishing all season

The Tofta peninsula offers a varied coastline with headlands, drop-offs and sheltered bays. This means you can always find fishable spots regardless of wind direction and conditions. It creates ideal opportunities for classic coastal sea trout fishing from spring to late summer.

Our proximity to both open sea and more sheltered waters makes this a particularly interesting destination if you’re looking for a fishing package in Bohuslän with good conditions whatever the weather.

Fish on your own - or book a guide

Fish on your own along the coastline, or add a more adrenaline-filled experience offshore.

We collaborate with the local fishing guide  Baited Hooks who offers fishing for dogfish and species fishing by boat – a great option if you want to combine coastal fishing with a guided trip at sea.

The packed lunch includes a light meal (for example a pasta salad), a bun or muffin, water, and a thermos with your choice of coffee or tea – easy to bring along to the coast.

In the evening, a two- or three-course dinner is served in the manor house, based on seasonal ingredients. We work with set menus, created from what is best at the moment, with a focus on locally sourced produce.

You stay in our hotel annexes, Smedjan or Verkstan. Breakfast is served in the manor house on weekdays 7:30–10:00 and weekends 8:30–10:00. If you prefer an early start, you can instead order a breakfast bag to pick up from 7:30.

Please inform us of any dietary requirements when booking. The current dinner menu is continuously updated on our dinner page.

Packed lunch for day two

If you would like to continue fishing on your second day, you can add a simple lunch to go. You prepare your own lunch from the breakfast buffet and receive a bag to take it with you.

We’re happy to refill your thermos with coffee or tea before you head out – perfect if you plan to spend the whole day by the water.

After a day by the sea, dinner awaits in the manor house, followed by a good night’s sleep in Smedjan or Verkstan. You stay in a peaceful setting, with fishing spots close by and the estate as your base during your stay.

During your stay, you can also book the sauna and hot tubs – a nice way to round off the day before dinner.

FAQ about our fishing package

When is the best time for sea trout fishing in Bohuslän?

Sea trout fishing is possible throughout the season – from early spring in shallow waters, to summer’s night fishing around currents and headlands, and into autumn when the trout return to shallower waters ahead of spawning. We’re happy to point you in the right direction for the day.

What are the rules for sea trout fishing?

Open season: 1 April – 30 September

Minimum size: Sea trout under 45 cm (measured from nose to the tip of the tail) must be released immediately.

Bag limit: A maximum of two sea trout per angler per day may be kept.

Can I book a guided fishing trip during my stay?

Yes. We collaborate with Baited Hooks, who offer fishing for dogfish and species fishing by boat. The trip is adapted to the weather, season and your level of experience. LINK TO BAITED HOOKS

Is the package suitable for both experienced anglers and beginners?

Yes. You can fish at your own pace along the coast, or book a guide for more support and a more specialised experience.

What other species can I catch in the area?

A common bycatch is whitefish (sik), which moves through nearby river mouths and the waters around the Tofta peninsula.

In early May, both mackerel and garfish arrive along the coast.

What equipment do I need?

For coastal fishing without a guide, bring fly fishing gear or light spinning equipment, a landing net, and lures suitable for sea trout.

In early spring and autumn, waders can be useful, but are not essential.
